Mamelodi Sundowns midfielder Bongani Zungu has admitted that he has faced a frustrating return to the DStv Premiership while highlighting the importance of returning to winning ways.

The DStv Premiership champions were held to a goalless draw against Swallows on Sunday at Dobsonville Stadium. The match also saw the return to action of several players who had been sidelined such as Gaston Sirino and Zungu.

The 30-year-old former Tuks midfielder got his first taste of competitive football action since sustaining a muscle injury at start of March.

With just 13 appearances under his belt, Zungu has endured a frustrating return to South African football rejoining the club at the start of the season, however, the midfielder remains motivated to take his chances when they come.

“First of all, my wish is to be injury free and I’m grateful that I got an opportunity against Swallows,” Zungu told the club’s media.

“Obviously I got injured during the Nedbank Cup, it’s been a tough few weeks for me but right now I’m feeling good, I’m feeling fit and hopefully whenever the coach gives me a chance to play, my duty is to try and help the team as much as I can.”

“A good team, they have been performing really well recently, they won the last game and they’ve got some good players on the team. It’s a game we want to win, it’s a game that we want to bring back that winning mentality in the team. We don’t want to relax just because we have won the league already.”
