Kaizer Chiefs forward Khama Billiat has missed most of the current Premiership season due to injury and has recently returned to training after recovering from a groin injury.
At the same time, his contract with Amakhosi is coming to an end in June, with indications that the club is expected to offer the player a lifeline with a contract extension.
Sources close to the player have informed the Siya crew that talks are imminent for the former Mamelodi Sundowns player to remain at Naturena beyond the expiration of his current deal.
‘Things are looking different now. When he was still nursing the injury, it seemed like his future was doomed but now that he has started training, the team is looking at his contract in a different way. It is not granted that they will give him a one-year extension, but things are looking better than before. There are positive signs that he would extend his contract for a year,” a source revealed to the Siya crew.

Indications are that Amakhosi are believed to be banking on experience next season, should the club qualify for the CAF Champions League.
“The technical team still believes in him. It has just been unfortunate that he has been out injured but now that he is fit, they want to see how his experience can help the team next season and that’s what can also influence the one-year contract extension,” the source added.
“As you may know, it is not done deal, as they wanted to see what will happen when he is fully healed then take it from there. Now that he is fit and training again, let’s wait and see. But there is light at the end of the tunnel for him,” the source added.
Contacted for comment, his agent and close friend Godfrey Bukasa said that there is nothing much he can say at the moment because he is away in Zimbabwe.
“I can’t comment at the moment because I am not in South Africa. I am at home in Zimbabwe but when I come that side I will update you on what’s going on with Khama,” Bukasa concluded.
