Joy Orbison and Overmono combine on new track ‘Blind Date’.

Move over Cilla, and tell “our Graham” to pipe down – there’s a new relationship in town, and it’s one aimed straight at the club.

Overmono packed out London’s revitalised KOKO last night – September 23rd – performing at the historic venue to kick off their UK and EU tour (with some Stateside dates incoming, too). A heady mixture of club flavours, the duo’s emphatic live set included a smattering of new material, including the first airing of an emphatic new collaboration.

Yep, in a true gift from the club gods Joy Orbison and Overmono have buddied up – well, they’re both XL Recordings artists, after all.

Heady club fare, ‘Blind Date’ is rooted in that skipping, ever-evolving percussive flow, while the woozy Abra-sampled vocals pirouette from side to side. The crunching electronics add a sense of bass weight, and there’s a defiantly UK-centric spirit to its construction, a rugged, rule-breaking spirit.

Following their summer-defining 2019 release ‘Bromley’, ‘Blind Date’ is another all-out club smasher to add to the burgeoning Joy Overmono canon.

Tune in now.
