The New York Yankees have had a happening MLB season so far. Amidst highs and lows, they maintained their top spot in zonal rankings. They are now participating in the American League Championship Series. Off-late, a strange incident at the Yankee Stadium on Tuesday night has gone trending online. 

The Yankees registered playoff berths by clinching the zonal championship crown. They played a postseason series against the Cleveland Guardians. Winning the five-game series against the Guardians on a 3-2 margin, the Yankees proceeded to the ALCS. 

The Yankees ousted the Guardians in the series decider at Yankee Stadium. While they celebrated the victory, someone threw cash notes on the dugout. Baseball followers debated the meaning of the gesture across social media. 

Who threw those dollar bills in Yankee Stadium and why? 

While decoding the mysterious rain of dollar bills, the most common speculation turned out to be Aaron Judge’s contract. As baseball fans are aware, Judge has displayed stellar batting form throughout the season. His performances carried the Yankees across a long distance this year. But his term contract will get over by the end of the season. 

MLB insider, Bryan Hoch, tweeted the incident quoting, “I didn’t see this live but my father-in-law mentioned it today. Who was throwing money on the Yankees dugout after the win? Is this for the Sign Aaron Judge Fund?” 

A fan replied, writing, “Yea, my dad and I saw this and had no idea what was going on.” 

Another fan joined in the conversation with the mention of Judge writing, “I said it was ‘Pay Judge Fund’.”

And yet again, the reference to Judge by a fan who wrote, “Gotta pay for Judge somehow Bryan.” 

Therefore, Judge’s Yankees contract happened to dominate the conversation. 

However, the mysterious spender and his reason are yet unknown.  

The Yankees in the American League Championship Series 

The Yankees are now participating in the American League Championship Series against the Houston Astros. Having won the first game by a 4-2 margin, the Astros have taken the lead. Consequently, the series now reads 1-0 in the Astros’ favor, with four games to go. However, Judge will try his level best to end his Yankees contract with a smile. That can thus only happen if the Yankees are able to lift the World Series trophy.
