In the second quarter of 2022, China’s AR (augmented reality) / VR (virtual reality) head displays shipped 309,000 sets, including 12,000 sets of AR and 297,000 sets of VR. In terms of VR, standalone VR shipped 273,000 units, up 19.2% month on month; Tethered VR shipped 24,000 sets, down 22.1% month on month.
In the first half of this year, the shipment volume of AR / VR market was 586,000 units (28,000 units for AR and 558,000 units for VR). The share of shipment volume in the consumer market continued to increase, thanks to the extensive offline retail promotion and strong online marketing of leading vendors.
In the independent VR market in China, in the first half of this year, the shipment of independent VR was 502,000 units, and the structure of the shipping channel changed significantly, with e-commerce accounting for 64.4%.
The shipment of leading vendors in Douyin (TikTok) live streaming has been equivalent to that of traditional e-commerce platforms.
