Amazon Prime Membership Price Hike Leaves Existing Members Unaffected
|
Amazon Prime is a subscription service that offers a range of benefits, including free shipping, access to streaming content, and unlimited photo storage. It’s a convenient and cost-effective way to access various services and products in one place. Now, get ready to pay more as Amazon has hiked the price of its Prime membership.
The last time the service saw a price hike was in December 2021. The new prices are effective as of this writing, but existing customers don’t need to fret as the company is offering subscription renewals at the older prices, but only for a limited time, and that too with a catch.

Amazon Prime Membership: New Prices
Amazon has increased the starting price for Prime Membership in India to ₹299, up from the earlier ₹179 announced in December 2021. This marks a significant increase of ₹120 for monthly Prime membership. Quarterly Prime membership prices have also risen steeply by ₹140, now priced at ₹599 instead of the earlier ₹459.
It’s important to note that there is no price hike for annual membership, which continues to be available for ₹1,499. There is no price hike for the Annual Prime Lite membership as well.
The updated prices are now listed on the company’s membership fee page, so make sure to check before subscribing.
Existing Members Shouldn’t Worry About New Prices, for Now
Amazon has stated that existing users can still enjoy the old price of ₹459 for a three-month Prime plan and ₹179 for a one-month plan, if they continue to auto-renew before January 15, 2024.
However, the company has cautioned that this offer is valid only if the auto-payment is successful. In case of a failed auto-payment or a customer revoking their consent to auto-renew, Prime will need to be renewed at the new prices.
